Tao

Where’s the party?
The hot MIX bash this year will be at the coolest club on the Strip:  TAO!

Show Off at MIX08

Why show your stuff to a few friends, when you can Show Off to thousands of your peers at MIX08?

Seriously. How cool would it be to see the results of your unbelievable creativity projected on a huge screen with monster sound and a sea of raving fans!? Okay, okay…so maybe we’re playing it up a bit too much, but you get the idea.

Show Off

At MIX08, we’re hosting what will be a world famous Show Off event. If you’ve ever wanted to put the smack down on lesser mortals, flex your brain, and get everyone to gloat at your—deservedly—awe-inspiring work, this is what might be called a prime opportunity. We want you to inspire others with your unique software, tip, tool, technique, animation, or anything else we can’t think of. All you need to do is create a short, 3-minute-or-less video demonstrating what you want to show off.

If you don't have anything to submit, we still want all MIX08 attendees to cheer on their peers in recognition of their fantastic work. This is all about excitement, and we’ll have theater-style “food” to keep the energy going. And there will be prizes. Oh yes…fabulous prizes await.

We want to keep it simple, so here are the guidelines:

  • You and/or your team put together a single WMV file that shows off something cool about your application, animation, tool, technique (or whatever).
  • This is a Microsoft hosted conference, so make sure that at least some of our technology was used to create the stuff you’re showing off.
  • Videos are limited to 3 minutes and should not include credits. We’ll add credits to the beginning of each video.
  • If you want to use a screen capture application like Camtasia Studio, HyperCam, or Windows Media Encoder, go for it! We’ll be showing these on a big screen, so please be sure to record at high quality.
  • Be creative. Show something cool that would excite your peers.
  • No crude language, nudity, or commercials.
We’ll post submission instructions as we get closer to MIX08. In the meantime, if you have any questions, comments, or feedback, send an e-mail to showoff@microsoft.com.
